We have had a year and a half of a free ride on Internet support and Web Hosting. Unfortunately, that has had to come to an end.
I noted on a message on the other board the maintenance of the online community does cost resources, so I'm asking each DM/Gaming group to toss $5.00 a month in the till. Of course, anyone who wants to donate more or just individually is not going to be discouraged! This is not a requirement, just a donation request. Here's where to click:

I received notification from each of you via paypal!
Maybe I should erect a Friends of Ermoon Plaque in this thread...
I don't know if purchasing the non-advertising thing is a sound investment. It makes things look nice, but how fast will we go through those 50K views? I don't know our total page views in a month.
Perhaps it takes trying it out to see if it's woth a shot. If we last a month on seven bucks, that's like less than 2 dollars a year per person.
Too bad the page views don't rollover. Then I'd be all for it without a thought!

I'm also inclined toward a popup-free version of the board, but I don't know that I'd chip in more than an extra dollar a month for that. I'm still a poor graduate student.

Thanks to Oliver and Mike Hammock, our current contributors. You two will be receiving in email the program I use that keeps the ads from popping up on this and other sites I visit.

Groovy! Do I need to donate another $15 this month, or what? How much do we need per month? I suspect that most of the groups won't be contributing, so I need to know how much slack I have to make up.

Remember, Mike, I'm a Republican, not a Democrat! (Ooooh...I've been waiting a long time for that response to your question a LOOOONNNGGG time ago! ) You don't have to subsidize the uninitiated. It's just a suggested $5/month. You don't have to pick up the slack for anyone else!

Heh. Well, I know that you have bills to pay for the websites, and I want to make sure they get paid--you've done enough for the sites as it is, without having to reach into your pocketbook any further. I'll give another $5 this month, I think, and just let me know how it goes.

Well, let me do some checkin' on the fees involved first. If they are the same for a $5 transaction as they are for a $15 (a flat fee vs. a percentage, fer instance) then it would be more economical for all involved to do a quarterly or some sort of similar schedule, especially if there's a limited amount of support.

Hello, Ermoon,
I have recently taken on and am actively seeking other large sites for hosting on my server. These domains elicit relatively higher traffic and utilize more space on the server...hence more resources.
I've noticed a glut in activity on the board for some months now, and am intending to remove from the server any unused sites to acommodate the potential increase in resource use as well as simply clean up that which is not being used.
If you want to keep your ermoon.com web site running, please post here that desire. For whomever I do not receive a message of keeping the site live, I will remove the site, deleting it and all its contents/email addresses from the server on or after 1 September 2003.
Most likely I will save a copy of the site in my own personal files, but don't count on that.
I will, of course, if interest regenerates, figure out how to best allocate space and traffic so that sites can be re-hosted on the server. As long as the domain name for ermoon.com stays registered in the name of someone who utilizes it for our situation, we'll be able to relaunch sites at anytime. I have other IP addresses at my disposal to accomodate any potential desire in the future to reignite our Ermoon communioty, so understand I am just proposing to do this in order to better facilitate the efficient use of my server for it's primary purpose, which is to feed my family.
